Amplifying procurement's social impact

Amplifying procurement's social impact

It’s a difficult time to be making the case for social impact initiatives in procurement following a political backlash against ESG and diversity and amid challenging economic conditions.

Despite these difficulties, the fundamental rationale behind social impact initiatives remains strong. Beyond the moral imperative of doing the right thing and the long-term benefit of fostering stability, social impact projects provide an opportunity for procurement and the wider enterprise to boost resilience, innovation, access to talent, employee engagement and brand reputation – all while averting the risk of scandal or legal action.

While none of that is to say leaders should ignore the current challenges, they need to be mindful of how they position these projects, ensuring their social and commercial value is understood and communicated effectively.
