A slew of regulation, much of it with multi-jurisdictional reach, is pushing the world’s biggest businesses to not only evaluate their carbon impact, but their broader footprint on human rights, corruption and diversity – let alone how they treat customers, suppliers and their own employees. Once they understand their impact, organisations must then drive better corporate behaviours.

The European Union’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive is potentially the most detailed and wide-ranging regulation of them all. The largest European companies are preparing to report for the first time, with the net casting wider – to ever-smaller organisations – over the coming years. There is no time to delay preparations.
