Rethinking the P2P relationship
Far too many organisations are still built around silos. The procurement silo does its work and interacts as little as possible with the finance silo which interacts as little as possible with every other silo – unless there’s a problem, of course.
Sometimes it’s not even about uncommunicative silos as it is about mini empires or fiefdoms. Corporate territory is preserved at all costs and the way things have been done for years is the way that continues to prevail.
But technology makes it possible to redefine the relationships between procurement, finance and suppliers. Instead of piecing together the jigsaw puzzle with a conventional idea of what the picture is supposed to look like, purging those preconceptions will reveal that the pieces can fit together more neatly if assembled in a different way, creating a clean sheet from which to create value.
